# SEO on Shopify, Wix, Squarespace and Webflow

What a hosted platform tells a search engine by itself, which of it is yours to change, and how to check whether your pages can be found. The checks are the same on every platform. What you can do about a finding is not.

A search engine does not care what a site is built on. It asks for a page, reads what comes back, and decides which address that page lives at. So the checks are the same for a store on Shopify and a site on Wix, Squarespace or Webflow as for any other: can the page be reached, is anything telling the search engine to stay away, is there a sitemap, and does each page say which address is its own.

What differs is who decides. On a hosted platform the company that runs it writes part of what a search engine is told, and lets you change the rest through its own settings. Some findings are yours to fix in a minute. Some are the platform's, and no setting changes them. The pages here say which is which for each platform, from that platform's own help.

Nothing here promises a ranking. Nobody can. What can be done is to make sure a search engine is able to reach your pages and read them. After that it is your pages against everyone else's.

**Check from outside first.** The free checks read any site, whatever it is built on: the page indexing check (https://wpministry.co/tools/page-indexing-check/) says whether one address can be listed, the sitemap checker (https://wpministry.co/tools/sitemap-checker/) finds the sitemap and reads it, and the AI crawler access check (https://wpministry.co/tools/ai-crawler-access-check/) says what the site's robots.txt tells each AI crawler by name. If you are not sure what a site is built on, the platform detector (https://wpministry.co/tools/website-platform-detector/) reads it from the page.

**The work, done for you.** The same audit and the same hours each month are sold for a site on any platform. The SEO services page (https://wpministry.co/seo/) lists each platform's page, with what that platform does not let you change.

**Thinking of moving instead.** A move is a larger job than a fix, and search traffic is what it puts at risk. Read how to migrate without losing SEO (https://wpministry.co/blog/migrate-without-losing-seo/) first, then see platform migrations (https://wpministry.co/migrations/).

## Guides

- Shopify store not showing up on Google: what to check, in order Search Google for site:yourdomain.com first. If nothing comes back, the store is new, still private behind its password page, still on a trial, or its pages are marked to be left out. Check those in that order, then the robots.txt file, the sitemap and the domain.: https://wpministry.co/blog/shopify-store-not-on-google/
- Squarespace site not showing up on Google: what to check, in order Search Google for site:yourdomain.com first. If nothing comes back, the site is new, is not set to Public, or is asking search engines to stay away through the "Block Search engine crawlers" box or a page hidden from search results. Check them in that order.: https://wpministry.co/blog/squarespace-site-not-on-google/
- Webflow site not showing up on Google: what to check, in order Search Google for site:yourdomain.com first. If nothing comes back, the site is new, is published only to its webflow.io address, or is keeping Google out through a robots.txt rule, the "Sitemap indexing" toggle, a wrong canonical address or a password. Check them in that order.: https://wpministry.co/blog/webflow-site-not-on-google/
- Wix site not showing up on Google: what to check, in order Search Google for site: and your address first. If nothing comes back, the site is new, not published, or keeping Google out, through the "Let search engines index your site" setting, a page set not to be indexed, a password, or a robots.txt rule. Check them in that order.: https://wpministry.co/blog/wix-site-not-on-google/

## SEO audit, done for you

SEO audit is $249. A written audit, each finding with its source, and up to 2 hours of fixes done and tested again.

May we measure how this site is used?

A yes notes the pages of this visit and loads Google Analytics. A no keeps and loads nothing. See the cookies page (https://wpministry.co/legal/cookies/).

If you say yes, we note the pages you look at during this visit and load Google Analytics. If you say no, nothing is kept and nothing is loaded. The site works the same either way. The cookies page (https://wpministry.co/legal/cookies/) has the details.
